Some people say that you should drink pure celery juice when you have nothing else in your stomach. In this way it will be able to work its magic. But is this juice really healthy for you? There is no research done around the benefits of celery juice. It is around 94% water, so the main thing that scientists believe is that it could help is with hydration of the body.

As stated, there is no real research done on this topic. We are however aware that compounds in celery called apigenin and quercetin are able to make your digestion better. They manage to improve bowel movements. This juice also makes your stomach produce more acid, leading to relieving bloating, heartburn or indigestion.

According to the people who use this juicing method, we should be consuming 16 ounces per day or in case of some chronic illness – up to 32 ounces. If you do the math this will turn out to cost you around $1000 each year. That’s a lot of money for a juice.

Because there is a lot of sodium in celery juice it could help you absorb nutrients from the foods you are intaking better. The salts in the juice may also improve the function of your liver, making it produce more bile, and in this way lowering your cholesterol levels.

There is some soluble fiber remaining in the juice, but you lose most of it. It is needed for a nutritional diet and it helps with digestion. We can get the needed fibers from fruits and vegetables we consume so it might turn out to be dangerous when someone is only consuming celery juice.
